The Garage Doors Of January

With Christmas festivities over and 10 weeks till spring pokes it's head out of the cold, January for most is a time to look back and look forward. For me it is a time to catch up on bookkeeping, organize my office and set myself up for the year to come. I am not pulled to the New Year Resolution bit, but the continuation of what Papa is doing in me old heart. The new year has this spirit about it that spurs us, to press on to what lies ahead. When I was a kid it was the joy of straightening my tackle box latter it was my tool box, then it was my car, what ever peaked my interest the most seem to get the most attention. Now that I am in my crusty years of life, the mountains that I look forward to scaling lie within my heart and manifest themselves in the kick of what is God going to do next. This January I carry within my soul the same get in order desire so as to be fully ready for the next adventure Papa might have in store. I think back to the Apostle Paul words of casting off all that hinders us to running this race.It is the same invitation from our Heavenly Father,to cast off the junk, clean out the office or shop, stop the sinning so as to be ready for what's coming around the next bend. Every one talks about getting rid of the extra pounds around the waist which is the outward sign of inward sin.How much so the extra inward weight we carry in our soul. January is a great month to trade in the old clunker of the heart for the new of all God is. Like a new car smell there is a refreshing new God smell as we clean out the garage of our heart. Can you hear Papas words? " Turn your heart to me, open it's garage doors and allow me to clean it, you sit over there on that box and just make sure the garage door doesn't shut and watch how much I can get done in a garage with open doors." Lord come clean quickly.
